RE: Mailx with attachment?

We have the users output the file to disk and have a separate procedure
to email. The procedure has flexibility to attach or send the content
in the body, have 9 receiving address's and specify the subject line.
If you don't need the flexibility, leveraging the Device Pathname and
Reset Command works.
I'd be cautious about using uuencode to the outside world. It's not
truly an attachment, as it's legacy of the first effort to attach files
to emails. It folds the attachment into the contents of the email and
the receiving end rips it back out. Some receiving mail services (the
newer ones) don't support the legacy uudecode to rip it back out, for
example yahoo.com accounts. We're using "mutt" successfully. HPaq had
precompiled "mutt" binaries (in our case Tru64UNIX), much easier than
getting from mutt.org and compiling. Most of the mutt documentation is
printed in German.
