Cumulative workorders and period end

I have the following question. We use cumulative workorders for a period
of a week. The finance department wants the workorder to be closed at
the end of the fiscal period and a new order to be opened for the
remaining days of that week to have all financial transactions on a
workorder for that financial period. They don't want a workorder that
has transactions in 2 periods. What is the easiest way to handle this. I
can upfront create workorders for the items that are planned to be
created on multiple days in the both periods. Another way is to have the
system generate the Cum WO's initially and change the end-date of these
workorders and create a new one for the remaining days.

Is there another way to create the Cum WO's with the date ranges
required.
