RE: Country of Origin

The issue there is you do not tag the item master with the code. You
could have a default but the inventory is what has to be tracked from
receipt, put away, picking, shipping, EDI etc.. NAFTA or EU cross border
shipping paperwork.
You have to be able to track the Country of Origin from receiving dock
to customer dock.
What we wanted was for the system to recognize who you were receiving
the product from and automagically assign the code.
That is where I think the 2.22 menus would come in.
I just have not had time to look into it myself.

Hello Crystal, -
As an option for consideration, your requirement for additional fields
in the Item Master record to identify multiple countries of origin for
an item can easily be accomplished using TailorPro, with no change to
QAD code or schema.
For companies that need a small number of such adaptations, i.e. don't
need a full TailorPro license, ProStar offers "Tailored Solutions" which
are a services-only means of achieving your desired result for nominal
cost.
TailorPro can enable whatever functions your company may need through
new and revised business logic, new and revised data structures, new
in-line screens and revised existing screens, even enhanced auditing.
With TailorPro, there are no invasive customizations that would hinder
future service packs or upgrades. TailorPro works with every version of
MFG/PRO and with every UI, including .NetUI.
Please contact me at any time if you would like further information or
demonstration of TailorPro's ability to adapt MFG/PRO to meet your
company's unique requirements.
Best regards,

Subject: Country of Origin
Good afternoon all,
I'm hoping to get ideas for how to handle the country of origin for the
same item made in two different countries (i.e. item A is made in China
and Mexico). There is only one field in the item master so we're
trying
to figure out where to put the second country of origin.
Thanks,
Crystal
